Around the same time last year, our team was busy working on an initial first version of the Freshdesk marketplace and it was called the App Gallery. It was our first big step towards making it possible for our customers to integrate their helpdesk with some of their favourite products for CRMs, invoicing tools and file sharing platforms. When we launched it in April and saw the first install happen, we were nothing short of proud, embarrassing parents. We knew it had a lot of potential and that exciting possibilities lay ahead.
Our efforts were a success; in just under 10 months after our launch, we welcomed 2500 developers on board. They built apps with powerful capabilities for their companies, some of which are publicly available. Fast forward to today, and we have over 100 available out of the box! Our little genius is all grown up now.
Today, the Freshdesk marketplace is more than just a place to find and install integrations. It’s a way for developers to build on top of our platform and bring their own ideas to the Freshdesk ecosystem. Over the last several months, we’ve given our developer portal a makeover and added some cool power-ups to our SDK by bringing in support for oauth, backend apps, data storage, notifications and more.We realized we needed to open up more rewarding opportunities for developers and enable a community of learning and innovation around our product. We wanted developers to spread their wings and be more comprehensive (maybe even get a little creative) with their solutions.
Over 30% of our customers have an app installed in their Freshdesk accounts, and we’re averaging over a hundred new installs a day. So, if you’ve ever thought about it, now’s the best time to be working on the Freshdesk platform; especially when you factor in that there’s going to be monetary compensation.
So here’s introducing the new and improved Freshdesk marketplace:
The Freshest marketplace on the Block
Starting today, developers can choose to sell the apps they build on the Freshdesk marketplace for a fixed price. Our customers can view and buy these apps to add more capabilities to their accounts. Yes, it really is as easy as it sounds.
- Developers, have you met our patrons? Developers can now sell their apps to more than 80,000 Freshdesk customers, tapping into our global audience spread across 120 countries. The more installs you get, the more money you make. If you’re interested or have an idea for an app that customers will love, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we can get started on helping you publish your first paid app on the marketplace!
- Customers, it’s time to stock up. If you’re a Freshdesk customer, you now have access to even more apps and customizations for your Freshdesk account. That one thing you always felt was missing from your helpdesk? That’s probably being built by a developer right now. With the launch of the Freshdesk marketplace, we expect a sharp rise over the next few months in the number of developers working with us and giving you a range of options to choose from. All you need to do is open up the marketplace from within your account, find an app you like, and purchase it using your credit card on file.

The first paid apps in the marketplace are already out – Salesforce Plus and Microsoft Dynamics Plus, both of which take advantage of some of the capabilities we’ve added to the SDK. They come with complete 2-way information sync, the ability to control visibility for your fields and also map them the way you want between your CRM and Freshdesk. What’s next for the Freshdesk marketplace
We have big plans for the marketplace. To start with, we’re partnering with third-party vendors and system integrators to build advanced integrations. At the same time, we’re also working on setting up a certification program and joint development initiatives for independent developers.
But this is only the beginning; we’ve got our sights set on soon extending the Marketplace beyond Freshdesk to our ITSM and CRM products. We’re excited about building an ultimate ecosystem of our products and a flourishing community around them.
